Data products to enable rapid electric vehicle adoption

WeaveGrid is a software company building data products to enable rapid electric vehicle (EV) adoption. WeaveGrid’s SaaS platform connects a growing wave of electric vehicles to an electric grid that was not designed to support the power intensity of ubiquitous electric vehicle charging. WeaveGrid uses cutting-edge data science and optimization to bring value to all stakeholders in this transition, including utilities, automakers, and drivers. The software platform helps utilities properly automate and orchestrate EV loads in response to localized grid congestion or overall transmission system imbalances. Leading U.S. utilities, including Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Xcel Energy, and Exelon Utilities, deploy WeaveGrid’s software solutions to lower grid infrastructure costs, integrate more electric vehicles, and save drivers money.

Consumer adoption of electric vehicles is happening faster than many expected, with 40 million EVs expected on the road by 2030, and newly passed federal and state policies have positioned the EV market for even further acceleration. However, the electrical grid in its current form is not set up to reliably accommodate new load growth from electric vehicles. Without any innovation, utilities would need to spend billions of dollars on new grid infrastructure, putting massive inflationary pressure on customer retail rates. WeaveGrid offers an elegant, low-cost software solution to connect two incumbent industries – automakers and utilities – to deliver on the promise of a decarbonized transportation sector at the lowest cost to rate-payers.
